Suspension of our carsharing service in the UK

We are sorry to announce that, after careful consideration, we have made the hard decision to end our operations in the UK. As of April 20th, we will no longer be able to offer new rentals in this area through our platform. This decision was not an easy one to make, it came after a long period of reflection. Nevertheless, due to difficult market conditions, we felt it was the best decision for all our users.

Why are we stopping our operations in the UK?

Motor insurance prices have risen steadily since the Covid pandemic, but last year the average premium skyrocketed in the UK, hitting a record high of nearly £1000. This represents a 58% increase in a year, and up to 88% since 2021.

As well as facing soaring premiums and rising cost of repairs, some drivers are finding it increasingly difficult to get cover for their vehicles. In this context, the ability of our community of owners to generate income from carsharing has been greatly reduced.

These factors have had a major impact on the carsharing market in the UK overall. Sadly, our business was no longer profitable enough to allow us to continue to operate under good conditions in this market for now.

Is this a permanent decision?

We acknowledge the inconvenience and disruption this decision may cause to our users. However, without any changes to the current conditions, we will be unable to make plans to resume operations in the UK.

We want to reassure our community that this decision has no impact on the other markets where we operate. We remain fully committed to expanding our carsharing activities in the EU and the US.

When will this become effective?

From April 20th, we will no longer be able to accept new bookings on the platform. However, all the trips that are already scheduled in the UK on or after April 20 will be carried out.

To conclude

We recognise the potential effects of this decision on our valued community of owners and drivers, and we offer our heartfelt apologies for any inconvenience it may bring.

While our operations will not continue in the UK for now, you can still rent cars in France, Norway, Spain, Belgium, Germany, and Austria, as well as the US for all your travel needs abroad.
