Introduction to direct debits

If you're an owner that uses Getaround Connect, we'll ask you to sign a direct debit agreement when adding your billing information and bank details.

Direct debits aren’t a new thing. Most of you have them set up already—think phone contracts or subscriptions to streaming services. Your Getaround direct debit is just another to add to the list.

In a nutshell

95% of owners make enough each month to cover subscription costs

A direct debit is an agreement between your bank and Getaround that allows us to charge your account. It’s used in the rare instances when your monthly rental income is lower than the cost of your Getaround Connect subscription and any associated fees.

As long as your earnings are higher than the cost of your subscription, we'll simply deduct the subscription fees from your regular payments.

What can I be charged for?

All charges related to your Getaround Connect subscription: both the amount of the subscription itself and any associated fees.

Scenario 1: You make your car unavailable for the whole month of August because its MOT is due and you then need it for your family holiday. Since you finish the month without any rental income, we'll charge you by direct debit for the subscription costs.

Did you know? More than 95% of owners make more than enough each month to cover the subscription costs. To maximise your earnings every month, check out our top tips.

Scenario 2: You sell your car but forget to request to uninstall the Getaround Connect device beforehand. We use the direct debit to charge you for the loss of the Getaround Connect device.

Find more details of when we charge you by direct debit in article 4 of our Terms of service.

Stay in control

We never withdraw money from your bank account without warning you. You’ll always receive an email 3 calendar days in advance, giving you time to top up your bank account if necessary.

If you want to change the bank account that you use for the direct debit, all you need to do is update your Payout settings.

You’re also able to dispute a payment up to 8 weeks after your account was debited. When this happens, you’ll need to get the Getaround Connect device uninstalled from your car. Your Getaround Connect subscription will be cancelled as soon as we recover the device.
