COVID-19 restrictions: our measures to support you

Tighter restrictions are once again in place throughout the country in order to fight against the spread of the virus.

Impact on activity

The impact of these new restrictions is still uncertain. However, we expect it to probably be the equivalent of the first lockdown, when your earnings decreased by around 50%. We’ll be able to provide a better estimate over the course of next week. 

We’re sticking with you

Our team is rallying together to ensure that we provide all the support you need during this period. Please read carefully the 5 points below:


1/ Reduction in subscription fees for Getaround Connect 

We’re going to help contribute towards your Getaround Connect fees. For each of your cars that doesn’t get any bookings during this period, your Getaround Connect subscription fees will be reduced to £9/month per car. We’ll exceptionally pay the rest for the month of November. If you do rent out your car in November, your Getaround Connect subscription fees will be the same as normal.  


2/ Cancellation fees suspended 

We’re going to temporarily suspend cancellation fees and fully refund drivers if they need to cancel during this period. Our Terms of Service relating to cancellations will no longer apply until further notice. 


3/ Importance of longer rentals

We've noticed an “urban exodus” since the restrictions were announced. Here’s how you can benefit from longer rentals:

  • Make your car available for the whole month if you want to rent out your car. 

  • Check that your prices are competitive for longer rentals: follow our discount recommendations for longer durations, or turn on Smart Pricing, which automatically applies optimised discounts for rentals lasting 2 days and more.

4/ Support throughout this period

We’ll provide a more reactive service than we did during the first lockdown. You can contact us whenever you need. Make sure to choose the category that matches your question to help our team get back to you as quickly as possible.


5/ Information about how our activity evolves

We’ll keep you updated about the changing trends during this period. With this information, you’ll be in a better position to manage your activity on the platform and be ready for when rentals pick up again.

We expect activity to be comparable with this summer once restrictions are lifted, with a peak in activity during the Christmas period since rail and air travel will probably continue to offer a reduced service.
