How to share clear Access & Return Instructions for drivers

Providing drivers with the most precise information about how to find your car and how to return it is key to starting and ending their rental in good conditions. The check-in and check-out instructions are divided into different sections where you can share clear information and photos for every step.

When picking up your car or returning it, your drivers will be guided step by step, which will help reduce the number of frictions related to check-in and check-out as well as the number of contacts you receive during your rentals.

Drivers who will begin or end their rental easily will save precious time, which will result in a greater satisfaction for them and good ratings for your car. As a reminder, drivers who’ve had a positive experience with an owner are more likely to rent again with them.

The check-in and check-out instructions structure is adapted to your parking type (public or private).

For cars located in a private parking

The access and return instructions are divided as follows:

Access instructions: helping drivers easily find your car

Add detailed instructions and photos to illustrate the path to your car.

1. Getting into the car park: where it is located, if it has a code, what it looks like (if applicable).

2. Finding the car: If it has a parking spot number, on a specific floor, where the key is, etc.

3. Leaving the car park: clear instructions to find the gate, how to open it and leave.

Return instructions: ensuring a smooth end of the rental

Add detailed instructions and photos to illustrate how drivers should return your car.

1. Getting into the car park: how to enter with a car, which gate to choose etc (if applicable).

2. Parking the car: whether it has a dedicated parking spot, floor or area.

3. Leaving the car park: how to find the pedestrian exit, elevator, metro station...

For cars using public parking

The access and return instructions are  divided into 2 different sections:

  • Access Instructions: how can drivers find your car on foot

  • Return Instructions: how to park back for free in this area

Our tips to write good instructions:

  • Think about all the details that would help drivers find your car and its parking spot. If needed, write a bullet list to make it even easier.

  • Keep in mind that the simplicity might be one of the reasons why drivers have chosen your car. Help them keep going with concise information! This will make the important information quickly identifiable and readable.

  • Upload clear photos for every step (when applicable): visual instructions can be really helpful for drivers who are in a hurry

You can update your access and return instructions at any time from your cars page.

To help you fill each section, all the text fields have been filled with an example for you to know exactly which information to give at every step. Your current instructions will be displayed if you uploaded them already so you can reuse them to create your new instructions.

Note: You don’t need to include information about penalties or platform rules as drivers can easily find these rules in the rental page.
