We're updating our Terms of Service to reflect changes and improvements in the Getaround product and service. The changes will be effective on July 10, 2020.

Here’s a summary of the changes:

  • Getaround Connect costs: We added more information about the costs associated with Connect devices, including that the monthly subscription fee for the device is deducted from the owner’s payout, and that the installation and deinstallation costs are normally waived by Getaround (articles 4, 4.2 and 4.3).

  • Parking rules: We clarified owners’ obligations to propose parking solutions and the consequences if renters don’t respect them (article 6.4a).

  • Renter cancellations: We reduced the grace period of free cancellations, so that renters have up to 1 hour instead of 4 following payment to cancel a booking free of charge. For cancellation after that, new rules will also apply (article 8.1).

  • Informing Getaround of damage: We included the rule that owners must notify us of any damage caused during a rental within 5 days following the end of that rental (except in the UK, where it’s within 2 days) (article 9.4).

  • Pre-authorisation funds: We clarified the time after which we release the pre-authorisation made on the renter’s bank account (article 11.2).

  • Price optimisation: We amended the percentage of the price discounts we apply in the UK based on the duration of the rental, and indicated that the Smart Pricing option now includes that duration discount (article 12.1).

  • Cleaning fees: We amended the fees associated with the cleanliness of the vehicle and the charges for failing to respect the no-smoking rules (articles 12.5, b and c).
